International conference dedicated to combating crime in modern conditions was held in Lviv

The forum was attended by scientists from all over the country, employees of the Department for Prevention of Corruption and Lustration of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police and other law enforcement agencies of Western Ukraine, representatives of the NACP, judicial branch of government, prosecutor's office, state authorities and local self-government, institutions of higher education. Also joined were international partners — representatives of the ECSC in Ukraine, the delegation of the Higher School of Police of Saxony-Angalt from the Federal Republic of Germany, the Higher School of Police in the city of Szczytno and the State Technical and Economic Higher School in the city of Yaroslav (Republic of Poland).

And, as the rector of Lviv State University of Internal Affairs Roman Blaguta noted, more and more institutions are joining this conference every time.

“Thanks to this, we have the opportunity to discuss quite widely the problems of combating crime by means of legal regulation,” said Roman Blaguta.

Volodymyr Martynenko, the adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs, the chairman of the Public Council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, shared his vision for the further development of the law enforcement and legislative sphere.

“I hope that everything we have developed today can be applied in practice. I am sure that the international experience and the work of Ukrainian scientists will help reduce crime and corruption, make life in Ukraine more comfortable, and people realized that society and law enforcement are partners in the fight against crime,” Volodymyr Martynenko stressed.

The importance of combining theory and practice in the work of police officers was also emphasized by Vasyl Vikonsky of the Lviv region police.

Foreign representatives took an active part in the scientific-practical forum.

Thus, Chairperson of the Regional Representation of the European Commission of the European Commission in Lviv, Hannelore Vallier noted that this conference is one of the manifestations of the desire for reforms in Ukraine.

Rector of the State Technical and Economic Higher School in the city. Jaroslav of the Republic of Poland Krzysztof Reimann emphasized that the exchange of experience between the participants of the conference will undoubtedly contribute to the deepening of cooperation in the field of combating crime.

Dean of the Faculty of Security and Law of the Higher School of Police in the city. Szczytno (Republic of Poland) Ireneusz Bembas noted that there is a need to develop steps for law enforcement agencies in advance.

Head of the Faculty of Criminal Sciences at the Higher School of Police of the State of Saxony-Anhalt of the Federal Republic of Germany, Herrmann Holger, stressed the importance of the countries' cooperation in the fight against crime.

In general, the work of the scientific and practical event was divided into three discussion panels: “Peculiarities of application of anti-corruption legislation” (the panel was co-organized by the Public Council under the Ministry of Internal Affairs), “Criminal legal and criminological aspects of combating crime” and “Criminal procedural aspects Crimes.”

The main ideas and proposals expressed in the reports and general discussion during the international scientific and practical conference became the basis for the relevant resolution. The participants of the event testified their agreement to take an active part in the implementation of the specified tasks regarding the fight against crime and to contribute to the further improvement of the current legislation of Ukraine.
