What you need to know to prepare an appeal

Requirements to apply


Consideration of appeals is governed by the provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On Appeals of Citizens”.

Appeal is a written or oral proposal (remark), statement (petition), complaint.

The application should indicate:

  • surname, first name, patronymic and place of residence of the citizen;

  • e-mail address for sending a response or information about other means of communication (when submitting an electronic appeal);

  • the essence of the issue raised is stated;

  • signature of the applicant indicating the date.

An application made without complying with these requirements shall be returned to the applicant with the relevant explanations no later than ten days from the date of its receipt.

Appeals are considered and resolved within no more than one month from the date of their receipt, and those that do not require additional study — immediately, but not later than fifteen days from the date of their receipt. If necessary, the period of consideration may be extended, but the total period for resolving the issues raised in the application may not exceed forty-five days.

Appeals are submitted to the Ministry of Internal Affairs:

  • to the telephone “hotline” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs by number: 1536;

  • through the box for correspondence (located at the checkpoint of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at the address: ul. Akademika Bogomolets, 10, m. Kyiv).
