On the fact of obstruction of journalistic activity, the police of Kyiv region opened criminal proceedings
The conflict took place in the village of Dudarkiv, Boryspil district, between journalists and an official of the local village council.
The man refused to answer questions from representatives of the mass media. Instead, he got behind the wheel of his car and moved, despite the fact that the movement was blocked by journalists. One of them, the official “drove” on the hood several tens of meters.
According to this fact, criminal proceedings were opened under Art. 171 (Obstruction of legitimate professional activity of journalists) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a fine of up to fifty taxable minimum incomes of citizens or arrest for up to six months, or restriction of liberty for up to three years.
Also, an administrative protocol has been drawn up in relation to the official under Art. 124 (Violation of traffic rules that caused damage to vehicles, cargo, highways, streets, railway crossings, road structures or other property) KUPap.
The police establish all the details of the criminal offense, find out the role of each participant in the incident.
