Capital investigators launched criminal proceedings on violation of privacy of journalist

Law enforcement officers conducted an inspection in the apartment and on the roof of the house: no technical means were found there. As part of the pre-trial investigation, all the circumstances of the incident will be established.

This morning, a man contacted the Kiev police and reported that in his apartment on Olzhich Street he found damage in the ceiling and possibly a listening device.

Law enforcement officers inspected the scene and interviewed the applicant. During the inspection of the message, the police found damage on the ceiling in the apartment. Also, police officers inspected the roof of the building: no damage or technical means were found there.

According to this fact, the investigation department of the Shevchenko police department initiated criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 182 (Violation of privacy) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for up to three years in prison. A pre-trial investigation is underway, within which all the circumstances of the incident will be established.

To find out if any listening device was installed there, law enforcement officials planned to conduct a re-examination and forensic examinations.
