Police investigate circumstances of arson of Lviv journalist's car

Today, January 30, a journalist contacted the Galician police department with a report that around midnight an unknown person set fire to her car “Mitsubishi Colt”, which she left parked for the night near the house.

 

 

An investigative and operational team worked at the scene, as well as employees of other services and units of the police of Lviv region. After the fire was localized, it was found that the front part of the body and the engine compartment were damaged in the car.

“The best specialists are working to solve this crime. We are doing everything possible to establish the circumstances of the incident, as well as the persons involved in the arson of the vehicle. The owner of the car is a well-known Lviv journalist who relates this to her professional activity. This information will be checked by investigative means,” said the head of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, Police Colonel Vasily Vikonsky.

On this fact, the investigators of the Galician police department opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 347-1 (Intentional destruction or damage to the property of a journalist) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment — imprisonment for a term of six to fifteen years.

A pre-trial investigation is being conducted.
