Criminal proceedings have been opened in Kyiv region on the fact of obstruction of journalistic activity
The police of the Kiev region received a message from a journalist of one of the central TV channels about the illegal actions of unknown persons in the village of Chayki.
According to preliminary data, the media worker was asked by unknown people to delete a video recording from the phone, which was made during a journalistic investigation. Refusing to destroy the investigation materials, these individuals began to bully and insult the journalist.
According to this fact, police investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 171 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a fine of up to fifty taxable minimum incomes of citizens or arrest for up to six months, or restriction of liberty for up to three years.
At the moment, the police establish all the circumstances of the criminal offense. The investigation is ongoing.
