Since the beginning of the year, investigators of the National Police secured compensation of half a billion hryvnias for damages in criminal proceedings
This was announced by the Head of the National Police Igor Klymenko today, July 1, during a meeting to summarize the work of investigative units for 5 months.
The head of the National Police noted the positive trend in recent years regarding the fight against crime. So, in 5 months of this year, investigators investigated 27.6 thousand serious and especially serious crimes, which is 2.3 thousand more than last year.
Investigators also launched a pre-trial investigation into 378 criminal proceedings for 2,116 crimes committed by organized groups and criminal organizations.
“The police documented the activities of organized groups and criminal organizations that committed multi-episode, well-planned crimes. Therefore, thanks to the systematic work of investigators, indictments in 233 criminal proceedings were sent to the court,” Igor Klymenko said.
In addition, the work of police investigators ensured compensation of almost half a billion hryvnias for damages in criminal proceedings. Property in the amount of 2.7 billion hryvnias was seized.
Deputy Head of the National Police — Head of the Main Investigation Department Maxim Tsuckiridze noted that during 5 months of this year investigators investigated almost 1.5 million criminal proceedings. Therefore, on average, one investigator investigates 312 criminal proceedings:
“You have a serious burden, because 90 percent of the crimes committed in the state are investigated by police investigators. But we have a strong team, professionals in their field, so, despite difficult conditions, you show good results.”
During the meeting, the Head of the National Police Igor Klymenko also congratulated the investigators on a professional holiday and thanked them for their service:
“The investigation is the cornerstone from which the work of the police begins and on the work of which the evaluation of the police activity depends. Investigators have a huge responsibility to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and to the state. It is your decency, your professionalism and principle that are the key to the fact that the National Police, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is the pillar on which legality and order in the state are maintained. And one of the most important indicators: when you finish a pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings, citizens know that you have done everything necessary to ensure that justice and the rule of law are served.”
