Since the beginning of the year, fire engineers of the State Emergency Service have seized and destroyed more than 65 thousand explosive objects

Pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine carry out daily work to survey the territory of the country, identify, seize and destroy explosive objects from past wars. Nowadays, in the season of “quiet hunting”, citizens are increasingly encountering dangerous finds that rain washes to the surface of the earth. During the last day alone, September 27, 63 sorties were made, during which 444 munitions were found, including 4 aerial bombs.

Thus, on September 27, the pyrotechnic works group of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Zhytomyr region destroyed 33 explosive objects from the Second World War, which were found on the territory of Radomyshl community of Zhytomyr district. The information came from the village chief of the s. Rakovichi. According to him, the dangerous finds were discovered by an organization dedicated to the search and recapture of the remains of soldiers who died during World War II. During the excavation work, the diggers came across metal objects that looked like ammunition. The specialists of the State Emergency Service, who arrived at the scene, identified them as artillery shells. In the course of an additional survey of the territory, a total of 33 artillery shells were found.

On the same day, rescuers of Chernihiv region received a message that near the village. A metal object similar to an explosive was found in Velyky Dyrchyn of the Sedniv territorial community. It was found by local residents during earthworks in the field and notified to the number “101”. The place of detection of the explosive object was taken under guard by the National Police. Sappers of the group of pyrotechnic works and underwater demining of the Special Purpose Emergency Rescue Detachment of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Chernihiv region quickly arrived at the scene of the call and identified the dangerous find as an 82 mm mortar mine from the Second World War. After carrying out the necessary work and additional inspection of the surrounding area, the explosive object was taken by special vehicle to a designated safe place and destroyed.

In Mykolaiv region on September 27, the pyrotechnic works group of the special purpose emergency rescue unit of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the region, by controlled detonation, destroyed two 50 mm mortar mines and an artillery shell with a caliber of 152 mm. Dangerous finds were found in the village. Shyrokolanivka Stepivska TG and in the village. Petrovo-Solonikha Vesnyanskaya TG of Mykolaiv district.

Earlier in Poltava region, on September 26, the Rescue Service received a message about the detection of an unknown explosive object in the village. Velyka Rudka of Poltava district. The specialists of the State Emergency Service, who arrived for the call, identified the dangerous find as a 66 mm artillery shell of the past wars. After conducting an additional survey of the area and finding no other explosive objects, the find was recovered and destroyed at a special detonation site.

In addition, work is underway on the demining of liberated territories of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In particular, during September 27, units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the territory of Donetsk region, where the PLO is conducted, surveyed 1.35 hectares of territory and identified and removed 60 VNPs. Pyrotechnic calculations of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Luhansk region examined 1.48 hectares of the area in Severodonetsk and Shchastin districts, where 36 explosive objects were detected and recovered, namely: 24 artillery shells, 9 mortar mines, 2 grants and 1 detonator the book.

In total, since the beginning of the year, the pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service have seized and destroyed 65,720 explosive items, including 888 aircraft bombs.

Therefore, in order to prevent accidents among the population in case of detection of explosive objects, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine once again appeals to citizens with a request to observe the rules of safe handling of explosive or unknown objects!

It is strictly prohibited:

touch a suspicious object or move it;
fill it with liquids, cover it with soil or cover it with something; exert sound, light, thermal or mechanical effects on a suspicious object, because almost all explosives
are sensitive to mechanical, sound and heating effects; try to neutralize the finding independently. Note that in case of detection of explosive objects, it is necessary to immediately report it by number “101” or “102” and in no case try to identify yourself
