I would stop trying to insinuate that it was a fake attempt to scare. We are talking today about the life and health of two people, one of whom belongs to the closest circle of the president. Bullets of 7.62 caliber were removed from the driver's body. These are specialized cartridges that were not produced on the territory of Ukraine, produced in Hungary. We are trying to establish a time frame for their importation into the country. We also do not exclude that they got into Ukraine through smuggling. With the help of dog handlers and experts, the sleeves were found,” he said.
Yevgeny Yenin added that the National Police forces together with the related special services, in particular the SBU, carried out an incredible amount of work.
“We were the first at the scene, we were the first to provide medical assistance to the victim. I have to pay great respect to the courage and steadfastness of the driver. Despite the severe injury, he showed directly the place where the attempt was made. This allowed us to establish in a short time the exact trajectory of the shooting and directly the place from which the shooter attacked the car, which decreased speed due to the sharp turn. His presence at the scene of the crime was necessary to establish the scene of the attack,” the First Deputy Minister noted.
According to Yevgeny Yenin, all the bullets pierced the car like a tin can — it was not armored. Most likely, the life of the driver and passenger was saved only because the driver did not stop.
