Kherson police on the water warned the state damage of about 5 million hryvnias
Employees of the police activity sector on the water of the Kherson Regional Administration conducted a study of the Black Sea water area within the territory of the National Natural Park “Dzharylgatsky”. During the raid, the police found and removed from the water about a hundred poaching tools, which also contained biological resources listed in the Red Book. The cost of illegal catch is estimated at more than 5 million hryvnias.
According to the head of the police unit Maxim Zharkov, the inspectors removed 90 shrimp hatchlings and 9 mysin nets from the water. The total length of illegal fishing tools is 3 kilometers, and their cost is about 600 thousand hryvnias.
During the inspection of the fishing equipment, it was found that they had young sturgeon species of fish listed in the Red Book, shrimp, Black Sea calcans, bulls, needlefish and crabs. The illegal catch alive was returned by the police back to the natural environment. Thus, law enforcement officers prevented damage to the state by more than 5 million hryvnias.
Currently, operational measures are being carried out to identify the owners of prohibited fishing equipment. The issue of opening criminal proceedings under Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal occupation of fish, animal or other aquatic extractive industries) is resolved.
