Vinnytsia: police officers together with SBU employees blocked the channel of sale of firearms crime
Investigators of the police investigative department together with the criminal police officers of the GUNP in the Vinnytsia region and the USBU conducted a number of investigative and operational actions to expose the criminal activities of a group of persons involved in the illegal manufacture and sale of firearms. On June 25, investigators of the regional head of police under two articles the criminal code announced the suspicion of one of the members of the group.
According to the deputy head of the investigative department of the GUNP in the Vinnytsia region Oleksandr Bilyi, the documenting of the group's criminal activities was carried out in several stages. According to operational information, customers for the purchase of weapons were sought by attackers in the criminal environment. During the multi-stage operation, the sale of four units of rifled firearms was documented.
At the final stage, one of the attackers was detained after selling automatic rifled weapons.
During the authorized searches at the place of residence of the defendants, another homemade shotgun, various caliber rounds and spare parts for weapons were seized. The removed is sent for examination.
One of the offenders, a 35-year-old resident of Vinnytsia district, was notified by investigators of suspicion of committing crimes stipulated in Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) and Part 2 of Article 263-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal manufacture, processing or weapon repair or counterfeiting, or unlawful removal or alteration of its marking, or illegal manufacture of war supplies), punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years. Criminal proceedings are investigated by police investigators under the procedural guidance of the Vinnytsia Regional Prosecutor's Office.
