Requisition of 90,000 UAH bribe — the internal security of the National Police exposed the policeman of the Kiev region
One of the officials of the Buchansky district police department of the Kiev region planned to receive an illegal benefit. During the transfer of funds, he was detained.
Operatives of the Kyiv Regional Directorate of the Department of Internal Security of NPU have exposed the deputy head of the investigative department of one of the departments of the Buchansky RUP on corruption actions. The policeman demanded $3,500 from the man for the return of his seized car and exemption from criminal liability for the fact of the accident.
On the basis of the collected materials, the Kyiv Regional Prosecutor's Office has entered information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations under Part 3 of Art. 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
During the receipt of the second part of the above-mentioned bribe — UAH 70,000 — the police major was detained with physical evidence by the internal security officers of the National Police and investigators of the TU SBR located in the city of Kyiv. Authorized searches were carried out in the officer's office and at the place of residence. Almost $23,000 was seized, including funds received by the police on the first transfer of ill-gotten gains.
The defendant was declared a suspect. If proven guilty, he could face up to 10 years in prison. Currently, the policeman is detained under the order of Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
