Soldier of the National Guard of Ukraine Mykhailo Romanchuk — silver medalist of the 2020 Olympics in swimming
Today, August 1, at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, athlete-instructor of the sports club of the National Guard of Ukraine Senior Sergeant Mykhailo Romanchuk became the second in the final swim of the 1500-meter freestyle.
He covered the 1500 meters with a time of 14.40.66 and finished second, thus bringing Ukraine its first silver and sixth overall Olympic award. The Ukrainian athlete lost one share of a second to the American Roburt Finke (14.39.65) and overtook the German Florian Wellbrolbrol by one fraction of a second. Ka (14,40.91).
Mykhailo Romanchuk noted that he was not going to give up on this. Hopes to collect a full set of Olympic honors at the next Games:
“These competitions were quite tough. The body is not used to such a regime. He won two medals and was pleased with this result. For the first time in three years I managed to overtake the German, but a new faster rival appeared. Of course, I want more. I hope that at the next Olympic Games I will be able to collect a full set of Olympic awards. I will work on myself and move on... At least until Paris-2024.”
It should be noted that in the 800-meter freestyle qualification, guard Mikhail Romanchuk became the best and set a new Olympic record.
