Military of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Sweden got acquainted with the training of special officers of the National Guard
The training and combat training center of the International Center of the National Guard of Ukraine, located in Vyshgorod, Kyiv region, was visited by Major General Lena Person-Gerlitz, Head of the Department of Military Policy and Strategic Planning Command of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Sweden.
Her visit to the Training and Combat Center preceded the meeting of the Multinational Joint Coordinating Committee on Military Cooperation, in which she arrived in Ukraine.
Today, representatives of the Armed Forces of the Kingdom of Sweden cooperate with the National Guard of Ukraine in the framework of Operation UNIFIER Joint Operational Tactical Group of the Armed Forces of Canada in Ukraine and one of the directions of this cooperation is the training of special purpose units.
To this end, the Training and Combat Center employs two instructors of the Swedish Armed Forces on a permanent basis, who provide advisory assistance in conducting the basic training course for special officers of the National Guard. During the visit, Major General Lena Person-Gerlitz got acquainted with the activities of the Training and Combat Training Center for Special Operations, in particular with the conduct of exercises on altitude and fire training, and personally evacuated from the upper floors of the building with the help of top-mounted equipment.
In addition, she examined the Ukrainian UAR-15 assault rifle, which is in service with the National Guard Special Forces and talked with them about its tactical and technical characteristics. “I believe that you have an excellent training base here, and I am impressed with the training that is taking place right now.
Sweden's support will be long-term and we are proud to be able to participate in Operation UNIFIER among instructors,” Major General Lena Person-Gerlitz said at the end of the meeting.
