Explosives and cynologists of the National Police received official transport

Today, June 25, Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksiy Rudenko handed over the cars to specialized units of eleven regions.

According to Oleksiy Rudenko, it is the units of explosives technicians and dog handlers who are the first to go out to report the detection of explosive objects, ammunition or the threat of explosion:

“In 5 months of this year, police and explosives technicians carried out more than 5,000 service visits on the facts of the use or detection of explosive materials. As a result of professional actions, more than 4,500 units of combat equipment or parts thereof, 20 improvised explosive devices, and more than 333 kilograms of explosives were discovered and seized.”

The Deputy Head of the National Police added that during the same period, dog breeders with service dogs made more than 9,000 visits to the scene and contributed to the discovery of almost 6,000 criminal offenses:

“With the help of dogs, 67 weapons, 335 explosive devices, more than 50 kilograms of explosives and more than 40,000 rounds of ammunition were recovered.”

In addition, police dogs are actively involved in the fight against drug crime and the search for missing persons.

The new transport, which will allow more efficient and quick implementation of official tasks, was handed over to units of Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhia, Lviv, Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Poltava, Cherkasy regions, and to cynologists and explosives technicians of Kiev and the Crimean police.

According to the head of the Department of the Explosive Service of the National Police of Ukraine Volodymyr Khomenko, the delivery of these off-road vehicles is another stage of equipping explosives units according to a single model.

“At the moment, almost 90 percent of the units have similar unified cars, they will be equipped with special kungas for transportation of property of explosive units, protective equipment and means for defusing explosive devices,” Volodymyr Khomenko noted.

Svitlana Kolomiets, the head of the department of canine organization, said that over the past three years, the canine specialists of the National Police received 33 new service cars:

“The cars are equipped with special boxes for two dogs for their transportation and boxes for ammunition and feed. Service dogs need comfortable conditions so that they can work effectively and help in solving crimes,” said Svitlana Kolomiets.
