The title “The Thing in Tim” is a play of words that unites the concept of the exhibition. In particular, these are 16 real household objects that have been used as tools of violence, and language reversal to explain the problem of violence: “the thing is that domestic violence is closer than it seems”, “the thing is that people who have experienced violence are afraid to talk about it”, “the thing is that violence They don't consider themselves violent.”

According to the information of the National Police of Ukraine, the items presented at the exhibition took place in real events related to domestic violence. For the sake of peace of those who have experienced this terrible phenomenon, only the details have been changed.

The author of the script and director of the project is Irina Tsilyk — winner of the Sundance Film Festival (2020) for the best directorial work in the category of world documentary film for the film “The Earth is Blue, Like an Orange”. 16 Ukrainian famous people (athletes, actors, musicians, TV presenters) took part: Masha Efrosinina, Dmitry Shurov, Zlata Ognevich, Tonya Matvienko, Sergey Kryvtsov, Sergey Dmitriev, Ekaterina Molchanova, Irma Virma Lesya Matveyeva, Anna Nepliakh, Akhtem Seitablayev, Alexander Kolyada, Elena Dashutina, Olya Tsybulskaya, Sofia Andrukhovich, Artem Chekh. In continuation of the information campaign in many cities of the country, police together with local authorities and the public organized local events.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Kateryna Pavlichenko, who moderated the action, noted that for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Police the topic of domestic violence has been one of the key ones for several years. Human security is the security of the country. Also, Ekaterina Pavlichenko stressed that the National Police constantly operate mobile response teams for domestic violence. Today, there are 86 of them in operation throughout Ukraine. They work in 67 cities. Where there are no such units, other police officers work.

In the last 10 months of work, the National Police received 267 thousand applications, which is 53% more than in the same period last year. The number of administrative protocols against domestic abusers increased by 50%. Issued 15% more urgent injunctions.

“The fact is that domestic violence does not choose its victims. The thing is, you can stop it at any time. We organized “Thing in Tim 2.0” to not only show the ubiquity of domestic violence, but also to emphasize that it can and must be stopped! We need to ask for help,” said Kateryna Pavlichenko.

Assistance service numbers are unchanged:

102 - call the police;

15-47 - Government hotline on combating trafficking in human beings, preventing and countering domestic violence, gender-based violence and violence against children;
