Ukrainian law enforcement agencies blocked the activities of members of an international transnational hacker group
According to American colleagues, members of the group legalized money from the Darknet network in particularly large sizes. Therefore, within the framework of international cooperation, law enforcement officers conducted searches of suspects and seized software through which attackers gained access to victims' digital wallets.
As part of international legal cooperation, US police reported that members of international transnational hacker groups are on the territory of Ukraine.
Investigators of the General Prosecutor's Office of the National Police, together with the SBU cyber specialists, conducted a special operation and blocked the activities of persons who provided services for the legalization of funds in particularly large amounts for representatives of international transnational hacker groups, in particular operating in the territory of the Russian Federation.
During the investigation, police found that the suspects were disguised under various nicknames on the Darknet. They used an extensive network of fraudsters, as well as financial services, conducted complex operations to legalize criminal proceeds in the interests of cybercriminals.
During the authorized searches, law enforcement officers discovered and stopped the illegal mechanism of creation, use and sale of home-made software and hardware. With their help, the attackers prescribed malware in advance, and then gained access to the victims' digital wallets for the subsequent covert theft of cryptocurrencies from them.
The special operation was carried out jointly with colleagues from the Security Service of Ukraine under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General. The events took place in the framework of international cooperation with the competent authorities of the United States of America.
Investigative actions continue. Currently, the analysis of the seized information is carried out in order to bring to criminal responsibility foreign customers of fraud.
