Today, April 21, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Arsen Avakov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba and Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship of Canada Marco Mendicino solemnly opened the first constituent meeting of the Ukrainian-Canadian Working Group on Mobility.
The Minister of Interior said that today Ukraine begins an important stage in relations with friendly Canada, a country where a large number of Ukrainians live. According to him, the relations of our two states are based on common values, and on the agenda now there is a wide range of issues in the field of migration and mobility.
“The institution that implements the best world experience in ensuring security, issuing and issuing passport documents, exercising control in matters of citizenship and migration — including combating illegal migration — is the State Migration Service. The Ministry of Internal Affairs will make every effort to achieve as soon as possible progress in resolving the issue of the agenda,” Interior Minister Arsen Avakov said.
In turn, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stressed that today a new format has been launched in bilateral relations between Ukraine and Canada.
“Ukraine pays special attention to the Ukrainian-Canadian dialogue in the migration and visa fields. Today we open a new page in the history of Ukrainian-Canadian relations and launch a new format of bilateral cooperation,” said Dmytro Kuleba.
The meeting of the working group will be an important platform for substantive exchange of views on the directions of effective interaction between the governments of both countries in the field of migration and mobility and, in particular, the potential opportunities for increasing the temporary mobility of Ukrainian and Canadian youth, the existing challenges in the migration sphere, as well as the promising areas of migration cooperation border and border agencies of both countries.
