UAPPO has the potential to be a key player in the issues of creating a gender environment in the security sector — Ekaterina Pavlichenko
This was stated by the Head of the UAPPO, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Ekaterina Pavlichenko during the Interregional Conference 2021 “Break stereotypes by knowing yourself”, which is being held today at the initiative of the Ukrainian Association of Law Enforcement Representatives together with UN Women (UN Women).
The event is timed to the Day of Defenders and Defenders of Ukraine. The conference is held in the format of a telecast with direct inclusions from 5 cities: Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Poltava, Mariupol, Lviv, bringing together more than 500 participants and participants, 20 speakers.
At the beginning of the conference, the participants honored the memory of the law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty with a minute of silence.
Ekaterina Pavlichenko said that the Ukrainian Association of Law Enforcement Representatives today is an effective platform that destroys stereotypes, unites like-minded people, creates a favorable environment for the exchange of experience and opinions.
“The association has sufficient potential to become a key player, agent of change and driving force in the issues of creating a gendered environment in the security sector. We are the generation that is destined to break stereotypes and usher in a new era free from any prejudice,” she said.
Minister of Internal Affairs Denis Monastyrsky congratulated those present and noted that the Ukrainian Association of Representatives of Law Enforcement Agencies (UAPPO) is the initiator of major changes in law enforcement agencies, and not only.
“From the Ministry of the Interior, you will always find a hand of support. Direction and agenda “Women. Peace. “Security” is among the priorities of our activities,” the minister said.
Ekaterina Pavlichenko also reported that new participants are joining the UAPPO, who are actually very effective and active in the idea of promoting gender equality in the regions. Today, the association has about 400 participants and participants, every day their number is growing.
“This event is important because it develops the potential of people, regardless of gender. We are making reforms that take into account gender opportunities for women. Without the development of people, the development of the state is impossible,” said Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova.
Kateryna Pavlichenko urged women prosecutors to join the Ukrainian Association of Law Enforcement Representatives and invited Attorney General Irina Venediktova to become an honorary member of the UAPPO.
The Deputy Minister thanked the international partners for their support of the association — the Embassy of Canada, the Embassy of Norway, the US Embassy, the UN Office Women in Ukraine, the Office of UNOPS in Ukraine, the Government of Canada, the Canadian-Ukrainian Police Development Project, the Consultative Mission of the European Union Zu in Ukraine.
