KHNUVS held the second edition of community police officers

The Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs graduated 189 community police officers. For the second time, the university has trained specialists according to the new world model, who will perform their duties in 15 regions of our country and 120 united territorial communities.

The events were attended by Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Police General of the Third Rank Oleksandr Facevych, Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs General of Police of the Third Rank Valery Sokurenko, Head of Law Enforcement Department of the US Embassy in Ukraine Sara Langenkamp, Director of Regional Program Michael Hall, Deputy Director of the ISITAR Regional Program Office in Ukraine Timothy Yanovic, representatives of the ISITAR program, university staff, course participants.

On behalf of the Minister of Internal Affairs Oleksandr Fatsevich congratulated the graduates of the courses on graduation and on the 98th anniversary of the establishment of the institute of district police in Ukraine and presented awards for conscientious service to the best district officers. He noted that the main purpose of the police is the prevention of offenses. “The history of the district police service continues. I am sure that it is you who will enter more than one page worthy of respect and imitation. These will be pages of courage, dignity, loyalty to the Oath and to the chosen cause.”

The training of specialists of the new formation took place with the support of the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police of Ukraine, the Embassy of the United States of America and ISITAP.

Sarah Langenkamp, Head of the Law Enforcement Division of the US Embassy in Ukraine, thanked the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Police, Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs for this project and stressed that it “lays the foundations for a true partnership when both the police and the community jointly solve problems in their territories. The expectations of you are very high, but I am sure you will be able to prove that you are real and worthy of people's trust. I encourage you to support each other and your colleagues from other areas, actively share experiences, set an example with your work and encourage the interest of other communities in this project. Good luck on this journey, safety to you and your families!”

Rector of Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs Police General of the Third Rank Valery Sokurenko stressed: “You studied at Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs for two and a half months. The best of the best have been trained. I am grateful to you for being an example for the changing composition, grateful to our foreign partners, coaches who have passed on their skills, skills and techniques that give us access to international standards. Be genuine, so that citizens feel safe and secure at any time of the day and in any place, so that you provide them with quality service, quality police services. This project is a continuation of the police reform. Do not disgrace yourself, be consistent, be demanding of yourself, of your colleagues, and everything will work out for us. Serve so that you are respected by the people and protected by the Lord God! Glory to Ukraine!”

There was a presentation of certificates to the students of the courses.

The celebrations ended with a demonstration performance of the honor guard unit and the cadet unit of the drummers of the university. At the end of the event, the participants inspected the cars that police receive to service their territorial communities.
