In Kherson, police seized an arsenal of ammunition from a local resident

Yesterday, September 26, a 60-year-old resident of the regional center turned to the “Unified Center 102” of the Kherson region police. The man said that a grenade exploded in the courtyard of his country house. The police promptly identified the attacker involved in the crime and conducted an urgent search of him. As it turned out, the offender kept a whole arsenal of ammunition. In total, police officers seized from him more than a dozen grenades, several hundred rounds, stores for a Kalashnikov assault rifle and an explosive. The man is currently in a temporary detention facility. Necessary investigative actions are being carried out.

At the scene, the victim told the investigative and operational team that he went fishing in the morning and at about 10:50 returned to his summer cottage, located in the village. Garden. In the courtyard, the man saw traces characteristic of the effects of the detonation of an explosive object - the walls of the building were cut with metal debris, and on the ground there was a funnel, near which there was a spark for a grenade.

During a more detailed conversation, the applicant said that the day before he had a conflict with a neighbor in the country. Law enforcement officers decided to check a 55-year-old man for involvement in a criminal offense.

As the deputy chief of the regional police chief Mykola Verbytsky told, during the urgent searches conducted in his country house and apartment, the police found 8 shells of RGD-5 grenades, three shells of F-1 grenades, 10 detonators, 9 jet signal cartridges, two signal cartridges mines, a tin checker weighing 400 grams, 200 grams of plastid, 10 magazines for the Kalashnikov assault rifle and more than one and a half thousand cartridges of caliber 9 and 7.62 mm.

The offender was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The issue of notifying him of suspicion of committing a crime provided for in Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Hooliganism” and the choice of a preventive measure in the form of detention is resolved.

Also, for illegal storage of ammunition and explosives, criminal proceedings were opened under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code. The seized items are sent for research to the expert forensic center. The origin of the ammunition and the purpose of storage are established. Necessary investigative actions are ongoing.
