Today, November 14, on the “Details of the Week” program, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denis Monastyrsky said that next year the Ministry of Internal Affairs plans to significantly increase the number of video surveillance complexes.

“Kharkiv today revealed a lot of problems that actually exist with violations on the roads. In particular, we have seen many tragic cases. They are related to drug use. Today, police officers do not have the opportunity to check on the spot with an express test for the state of drug intoxication,” said Denis Monastyrsky.

He also said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs conducted an analysis of the legislation. The department understands that for this it is necessary to change a number of by-laws and purchase these express tests. This will significantly speed up the work of the police, because it will take only a few minutes to pass the examination.

“It seems to me that now there are all legal grounds to overcome this phenomenon. I say this now as a person who is engaged in the enforcement of this law. First of all, I have a question for the courts, which treat violators in this way, releasing them and inadequately responding to public resonance... In addition, of course, this is a comprehensive fixation of offenses. This year, for example, road deaths have decreased by 10%, but we have only 300 cameras in the whole of Ukraine, when we need 2000 cameras. Today we are negotiating to buy these cameras next year and install them on Ukrainian roads,” the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs noted.
