In Nikolaev law enforcement officers handed over suspicion to a man in an attempt to murder a policeman
On one of the streets of Nikolaev, a security police officer in his off-duty time together with his comrade met with two strangers. During a sudden conflict, one of the unknowns shot a policeman and inflicted several blows with a knife. The offender was found and detained by law enforcement officers.
The Nikolaev department of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police received information about the receipt of bodily injuries by one of the employees of the Department of Security Police in the Nikolaev area, who was out of service.
During the inspection, it was established that around 22:00 the junior inspector of UPO and his acquaintance went to one of the shops of Nikolaev. At the intersection of the streets, they encountered two unknown persons, with whom a verbal conflict began that escalated into a fight. During the incident, one of the men took out a gun and shot at the policeman, and then dealt him several more knife blows to the torso.
The wounded law enforcement officer was hospitalized in the surgical department with a diagnosis of: stab wound to the back, penetrating knife wound to the abdomen with damage to the spleen and gunshot wound to the abdomen from the use of a traumatic weapon. The policeman has been operated on, his condition is currently serious.
The joint forces of the internal security officers of the NPU, the Nikolaev district police department and the GUNP of the region carried out urgent operational-search and investigative measures. Video from surveillance cameras was processed and witnesses of the event were interviewed.
The intruder, who inflicted bodily harm on a police officer, was detained at the place of residence. The attacker was a 40-year-old local resident, previously convicted of murder, robbery and robbery. During the search, law enforcement officers found weapons of crime.
Detainee under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine the investigating police declared a suspicion under Part 2 of Article 15 (Assassination), Part 1 of Article 115 (Intentional Murder). The man is placed in a temporary detention facility. For what he has done, he may be threatened with imprisonment for up to 15 years.
