A special police operation has been introduced in Kyiv: measures are underway to detain an armed citizen who injured a policeman and a civilian
Both victims were taken to a hospital for medical care. The leadership of the National Police, the Metropolitan Police and the investigative and operational teams are in place.
According to preliminary information, patrol police officers went to a call about the conflict in an apartment on Holosiivskyi Avenue. At the scene, the owner of the property fired a shotgun in the direction of the police.
According to the chief of police of Kyiv Andriy Kryshchenko, as a result of the incident, a law enforcement officer received a gunshot wound to his hand, and another man was wounded in the face. After that, the attacker locked himself in the specified apartment.
“At the moment, a special police operation has been introduced in the capital to detain the attacker. The victims are provided with the necessary medical care. All measures are taken to detain the offender. Special agents are involved,” said Andriy Kryshchenko, who is now at the scene.
In addition, investigative and operational teams of the Main and District Police Departments work at the address.

During the negotiations, the attacker set fire to the apartment, where he locked himself.
Emergency rescue workers carried out measures to eliminate the fire.
Police are currently evacuating residents of the apartment building.
