The police proved the involvement of the Chernivka in psychological violence against his mother. For such actions, the current legislation provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to two years.

During the pre-trial investigation, the officers of the Chernivtsi district police department established that a 35-year-old local resident previously convicted of property crimes had been on the preventive register of the National Police under the category of “family offender” since March of this year.

The police found out that the man insulted his mother for a long time with obscene slurs and threatened her with physical abuse. Police officers responded to each report from the woman, drew up protocols on an administrative offense against the offender and carried out preventive and explanatory work with him about the inadmissibility of such actions. The Shevchenko district court has repeatedly found the offender guilty of committing administrative offenses provided for in Part 1 of Art. 173-2 KupAp.

However, the man continued to commit psychological abuse towards his mother, which, according to the conclusion of the forensic psychiatric examination, resulted in a psychological disorder in the woman.

Police investigators collected sufficient evidence of the systematic commission of such violent acts and proved the involvement of the offender in the commission of a criminal offense provided for by Art. 126-1 (Domestic violence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Currently, law enforcement officers have sent the materials of criminal proceedings with an indictment to the court.
