A contract was signed in Ukraine for the construction of five 20 border ships under the agreement with the French company OSEA - Sergey Goncharov
Today, November 30, a contract was signed between the French shipbuilding company OSEA and the Ukrainian company NIBULON for the construction of five vessels for the needs of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Production will be concentrated in Nikolaev.
In total, Ukrainian border guards will receive 20 such ships, 15 of which will be built in France. The transfer of the first vessel will take place in Odessa. It is planned that it will be launched on December 9. In January 2022, the ship's crew will undergo special retraining with French specialists.
The implementation of such a project became possible thanks to the signing in 2019 of a framework intergovernmental agreement between Ukraine and France. In total, it provides for lending by the French government and leading European banks for the construction of French ships in the amount of 136.5 million euros with the localization of part of the production in Ukraine.
“Within the framework of this project, the issue of localization and involvement of Ukrainian companies in production was important for Ukraine. According to the results of the agreement, we will be able not only to create a powerful fleet for the State Fiscal Service, but also to raise the potential of our companies to the European level. As a result, for the French colleagues, they will discover Ukraine even more and will be confident in our reliability as business partners,” said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Serhiy Goncharov during the event.
The agreement was signed by representatives of two shipbuilding companies. From the Ukrainian side, the director of the NIBULON shipbuilding and ship repair plant Bohdan Muzyka, and from the French side - the Director of OSEA on Procurement Gonzac Delanoy.
Mr. Gonzac congratulated all those who participated in the preparation of this agreement and noted that today is not only the day of signing the document, but also the official start of the construction of vessels in Ukraine. It is expected that all five ships will be launched from the Nikolaev plant by the end of 2023.
After the representatives of the French company conducted a study of Ukrainian enterprises, they found out for themselves that Ukraine produces one of the best inflatable boats in the world with a rigid hull - the brand Brig. In the future, these boats will be equipped with 20 vessels for the DPSU. After working in the Ukrainian market, OSEA decided to basically equip its vessels with Ukrainian inflatable boats. In addition to the order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the French company is already discussing the signing of two large contracts for the production of ships in a new configuration with Ukrainian boats Brig.
Recall that in the spring the first boat of the OSEA company for the State Border Guard Service will arrive in Ukraine.
