Today, May 28, a meeting of the Committee on Partnership and Collective Security with Ukraine was held in the format of a video conference in the format of NATO air defense.

The purpose of the event was to discuss and approve the updated package of Partnership Goals for Ukraine. This document includes a number of joint actions on the most important areas of reform and implementation of NATO standards in all spheres of activity of the security and defense sector.

During the meeting, issues related to defense and security policy, development of the national security and defense sector of Ukraine, participation of Ukraine in NATO-led operations and missions, etc., were discussed.

As part of the Ukrainian delegation, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Tetiana Kovalchuk informed the NATO side about the achievements in the path of reforming the bodies of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system and outlined strategic topics that form the emphasis in the work of the Ministry in the field of Euro-Atlantic integration.

“Euro-Atlantic integration is one of the key and inevitable directions of the development of the Ministry of Internal Affairs system, so we are interested in developing dialogue and intensifying cooperation with NATO in all areas in the security sphere,” the Deputy Minister said in her speech.

According to Tetiana Kovalchuk, the priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs include achieving operational interoperability with the Armed Forces of Ukraine and military formations of NATO member states, studying and implementing NATO standards, reducing corruption risks and building integrity, protecting human rights and introducing gender equality policies, creation of an effective system of civil protection of populations and territories and emergency response, formation of a national resilience system and a state system of protection of critical infrastructure, combating hybrid threats, implementation of the principles of integrated border management, as well as professional training and education of personnel.

The updated package of Partnership Goals for the Ministry of Internal Affairs includes 3 objectives, namely:
(CP I
0013) gender policy; (CP I 0304) planning and budgeting;
(CP I 7302) cybersecurity.

For reference: The planning process of force assessment is an important process within the framework of the Partnership for Peace Programme for those partner countries that wish to participate in it, i.e. on a voluntary basis.

The purpose of the PPOS is to provide partner states with the ability to train forces capable of working together with NATO member states, as well as to create a mechanism for the exchange of information on defense and budget planning.

To address the issues of achieving interoperability at each stage of the PPOS, special Partnership Goals (CPs) are developed, which are offered to partners as directions in the work. The progress of achieving these goals is constantly being reviewed.
