In many regions of the country, people have already begun an active fight against household garbage and vegetation residues. This activity, which is most often carried out by burning, has led to an increase in the number of fires in natural ecosystems and in open areas. By burning dry land, citizens neglect their own safety and expose others to it, because the fire becomes uncontrollable and can destroy not only hectares of natural ecosystems, but also human homesteads.

In particular, during last week, March 22-28, rescuers of Volyn region eliminated 18 fires in open areas. Firefighters were involved in extinguishing dry grass near the villages of Shakhtarske and Morozovichi, Ivanychivsky district, near the villages of Ambukiv and Novosilki, Vladimir-Volynsky district, in the village of Huta-Kaminska, Kamin-Kashirsky district, the villages of Krupa, Novokotov, Polonka, Shepel of Lutsk district, etc. The area of the land covered by the fire was almost 20 hectares. All fires were caused by carelessness with the fire of citizens.

Over the past weekend, 82 fires were recorded in the Chernihiv region on a total area of more than 195 hectares due to carelessness of citizens in handling fire. Thanks to the prompt response of fire and rescue units, the spread of fire to large areas, forest areas and objects of various forms of ownership is prevented. Unfortunately, due to carelessness in the handling of fire when burning dry vegetation near his own house in the village. An elderly woman was killed in Nedanchychi, Lyubek territorial community. The circumstances of the tragic case are being clarified by law enforcement agencies.

In Odesa region on March 28, the 101 Rescue Service received a message that in the city. Izmail caught fire in the area adjacent to the “Lion's Lake”. Rescuers extinguished the fire on an area of 2 hectares. The probable cause of ignition is careless handling of fire by an unidentified person.

At the same time, firefighters from the Krinichansky district, in the Dnipropetrovsk region, eliminated the fire near the village of Zelenyi Kut, where the fire managed to destroy 4.6 hectares of dry vegetation. Near the village of Krinichki, rescuers extinguished the fire in an open area of 4.5 hectares., and near the village of Boltishka - on an area of 4 hectares. Emergency workers were also involved in extinguishing fires of dry grass and cane in Tomakovsky and Petrykivsk districts, as well as extinguishing the fire of dry grass in the southern district of the city of Kamianske on an area of 3 hectares.

In turn, the fighters of the State Emergency Service of the Kirovograd region during the past day 15 times were involved in extinguishing fires of dry vegetation and garbage, namely: in Ustinovsky, Novomyrhorod, Oleksandriysk, Blagovishchensk, Svetlovodsk, Znamyansky, Oleksandrivsky, Novgorod Kirovsky, Kropyvnytskyi districts. The total area of fires is about 7 hectares. The largest fires of cane and dry grass occurred near Lake Longo, m. Novomyrhorod.

Therefore, given the rapid approach to the fire danger period, which according to the UkrHydrometeorological Center is expected at the end of March after the snow cover has subsided, rescuers are intensifying preventive work among citizens to prevent the occurrence of fires in open areas and ecosystems of Ukraine.

The SNS reminds: it is strictly forbidden to burn garbage, make fires near forest plantations, dry vegetation and leave cigarette butts or matches on the grass bed.

It must be remembered that violation of fire safety rules carries a threat not only to the environment, but also, first of all, to your life and health!
