Investigators of the National Police announced suspicion of the former managers of “Delta Bank” in the possession of more than 1 billion 144 million UAH
The question of the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention in respect of the five defendants is currently being resolved.
The scheme of appropriation of bank funds was exposed by the investigators of the Main Investigation Department of the National Police under the operational support of the SBU and the procedural guidance of the prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General. During the investigation, the police received evidence of the involvement of the suspects in the facts of criminal activity, as a result of which losses were caused to the financial institution in the total amount of more than 1 billion 144 million hryvnias.
Thus, in the period 2012-2014, the heads of PJSC “Delta Bank” issued unprofitable loans. Subsequently, the bank's funds, which were to be paid to the bank, were appropriated by the defendants. In addition, during 2014-2015, the officials of PJSC “Delta Bank” squandered the funds of the financial institution, realizing at a reduced cost the property rights to previously concluded loan agreements that were secured by liquid assets.
In 2015, the National Bank of Ukraine declared PJSC “Delta Bank” insolvent. So far, the deposit guarantee fund has paid the bank's depositors about 15 billion hryvnias.
Today, on October 11, law enforcement officers conducted 13 sanctioned searches on the territory of Kyiv city and Kyiv region at the place of residence of the defendants. As a result, documents and electronic means of information that are of evidential value in the proceedings were seized.
Five defendants, four of whom held senior management positions in the bank, were informed of suspicion under Part 5 of Art. 191 (Appropriation, embezzlement of property or possession of it by abuse of official position) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. They face up to 12 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and with confiscation of property. The issue of applying a precautionary measure against them in the form of detention is resolved. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
