In addition to preparing for Easter and May holidays and holding commemorative dates, law enforcement officers of Odessa region are preparing for events that will take place in the city on May 2. This was stated today, April 28, during a selection meeting by First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Sergey Yarovyi.

“On May 2, Odessa will celebrate the seventh anniversary of the tragic events that took place in 2014. We must anticipate as much as possible all the challenges that may occur. And also to prevent provocations that benefit the country - the aggressor,” he stressed.

It is planned that 1300 police officers and 1,200 National Guardsmen will be involved in public safety during the commemoration of the dead at the Trade Union House.

The head of the National Police Igor Klymenko noted that this year the anniversary of the events in Odessa coincides with Easter. Additional forces will be involved not only to ensure security in religious buildings, but also if any mass events are announced.

“Since the beginning of the week, the police together with the NGU have started operational and preventive work. And already from April 30, the GUNP in the Odessa region will introduce enhanced security measures. For this purpose, additional deployments of forces from other regions of Ukraine are planned,” Igor Klymenko said.

Recall, during the selection meeting, the First Deputy Minister spoke about the work of the departments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs during Easter and May events.
