Sergey Goncharov held a meeting with the vice president of the leading Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri Federico Riggio
Today, on October 11, as part of strengthening the technical component of the capabilities of the units of the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Deputy Head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Sergey Goncharov held a meeting with the Vice President of the leading Italian shipbuilding company Fincantieri Federico Riggio.
The parties discussed the possible participation of Fincantieri in the construction of specialized vessels for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine for the purpose of performing specified missions and tasks, including the protection of the maritime borders of Ukraine. Italian specialists presented separate proposals taking into account the tactical and technical parameters received from the Ukrainian side and the functionality of future ships.
According to the Ambassador of the Italian Republic to Ukraine Francesco Dzazzo, who also took part in the meeting, the impetus for the development of Ukrainian-Italian cooperation in the maritime industry was the recent visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy Luigi Di Maio to our state.
Commenting on the potential and policy of Fincantieri, representatives of the Italian side stressed that in case of reaching the relevant agreements, the Italian giant intends to come to Ukraine not only for the implementation of point projects, but for a longer period, with readiness to cooperate with domestic shipbuilding companies and involve with strong financial support from the Italian export and credit agency SACE (Servizi Assicurativi del Commercio Estero).
Serhiy Goncharov noted the company's willingness to consider the possibilities of localizing the production of Ukrainian orders to domestic shipbuilding companies with the involvement of local labor and the introduction of modern technologies and experience.
