Rescuers carry out outreach work among citizens and train to effectively resist fires in natural ecosystems
In order to reduce the number of fires in natural ecosystems, together with representatives of forestry and law enforcement agencies, the rescuers of the State Emergency Service carry out comprehensive work on prevention and prompt response to such extraordinary events, which annually cause numerous damages to the natural fund of Ukraine. To do this, they arrange special firefighting training and patrol the resting places of citizens in forest areas.
On April 15, a joint aerial patrol of forest areas, agricultural lands and open spaces was conducted in Kharkiv region with the participation of the leadership of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Kharkiv Oblast (Region), representatives of district administrations and forestry companies. To monitor the situation from the air, the helicopter of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine H-225 “Super Puma” of the Special Aviation Detachment of the OSS of the SNS of Ukraine was involved. In general, navigation was carried out over the Izyum, Volchansky, Balakliy, Zmiivsky, Chuguevo-Babchan and Kupyan forests. Near the city of Volchansk, a helicopter was landed on a temporary site and a command and staff training was conducted to prevent and eliminate large-scale forest fires.
On the same day, a staff training was held in Kirovograd region with the authorities and civil protection forces of the region with the involvement of evacuation authorities. According to the tactical plan of the training, against the background of a sharp increase in air temperature to+20-25 C 0, fires occurred in natural ecological systems in the territory of several communities of the Kirovograd region: areas of shrubs, reeds, forest plantations and forest masses were occupied. Subsequently, due to strong winds, the scale of the fires increased and there was a threat to residential buildings and economic activities. Upon receipt of a fire report, specialized civil protection services of the region gradually worked out an algorithm of actions.
At the same time, specialists of the city regional department of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Luhansk region visited the Stanichno-Luhansk state forestry with inspection. The purpose of the event is to obtain real data on the state of readiness of forest protection units for the fire danger period and to form a list of measures to correct the identified deficiencies. In the forest hunting enterprise, rescuers inspected the presence of fire extinguishers, fire equipment, chance tools and accessories, the state of sources of external fire water supply, backup power supply, etc. Emergency workers also checked the regulatory and legal documents of forestry, provided methodological recommendations.
On April 15, the employees of the State Emergency Service in the Sumy region, together with representatives of the police and forestry enterprises, conducted a raid in the forest areas of the Sumy united territorial community. In particular, the raiding group worked in the villages: V.Pischane, Stetskivka, Radkivka, Pushkarivka, Bitytsia, Velyka Chernechchyna. The main efforts were aimed at monitoring the compliance of the population with fire protection requirements on the territory of the forest fund during their stay in forests, forest strips, on personal plots and to prevent the burning of garbage and vegetation residues. Communicating with the population, rescuers reminded of the prohibition of making fires in the forest, the entry of vehicles into the territory of the forest fund during the fire danger period. In conclusion, citizens were explained how to act in the event of various emergencies and distributed the corresponding commemorative cards.
In general, preventive work is carried out on an ongoing basis from the beginning of the fire hazard period and will continue until its completion.
