In the National Guard of Ukraine, the basic reconnaissance course was conducted for the first time and lasted about six weeks. Representatives of Operation “UNIFIER” of the Joint Operational and Tactical Group of the Armed Forces of Canada in Ukraine and officers of the General Directorate of the National Guard worked diligently to improve the qualification of the NGU scouts to a level compatible with NATO member countries.

Throughout the course, which was a pilot project, specialists of the Intelligence Department of the Main Directorate of NGU, together with Canadian instructors, improved and adjusted the training program. The instructors of the operation “UNIFIER” noted close cooperation and exchange of experience with the scouts of the National Guard.

The certificates were presented by the Chief of the Intelligence Department of the Main Directorate of the National Guard of Ukraine Colonel Shain Klibansky and Deputy Commander of the Individual Training Group of Operation “UNIFIER” of the Armed Forces of Canada in Ukraine Captain Christopher Meg and Chief Master Chief Warrant Officer Donovan Crawford.

“This pilot project, the National Guard Reconnaissance Base Course, which we initiated with our Canadian colleagues, is to continue and increase the capabilities of the National Guard intelligence units in performing military and combat missions in the area of the Joint Forces operation in the east of our country,” he said during the lesson of the purges of Colonel Shain Klibansky.

“I want to thank each and every one of you for your perseverance, your endurance, your persistence and your ingenuity in taking this course. Special thanks to the instructors of the operation “UNIFIER” of the Canadian Armed Forces in Ukraine, who made every effort in the preparation and passed on their experience to you, as well as to the translators who accompanied the course,” he added.

According to Canadian colleagues, the intelligence officers of the Armed Forces of Canada and the National Guard of Ukraine have a lot of common approaches. During their training, they quickly found a common language and, step by step, overcame all the stages of preparation.

“During the course, all participants learned not only the tactics of intelligence, but also the methods of teaching the training material and preparation, and I hope that this will be of great benefit to you. Apply the knowledge gained during combat operations and share it with your comrades,” Captain Patrick Kelly, commander of the Intelligence Training Group of the Canadian Armed Forces “UNIFIER” in Ukraine, wished the guards.

The reconnaissance guards received certificates of passing the basic reconnaissance course and presented their Canadian colleagues with gratitude and commemorative plaques with the symbols of the National Guard of Ukraine.

Lieutenant Colonel Victor Voskoboev congratulated everyone present at the celebrations with the song of Angela Yarmolyuk “Guards Battalion”.
