Raid in the waters of the Sea of Azov: water police warned of damage of almost three million hryvnias

On the first day of the study of water bodies in the Kherson region, law enforcement officers discovered a poacher's catch: in the nets of violators, the length of which was almost one and a half kilometers, there were different types of fish (several tens of thousands of pieces each). Fishing tools were seized, biological resources were released into the natural environment.

Yesterday, June 23, the employees of the Department of Aviation and Police on the Water, together with the employees of the police activity sector on the water of the Kherson Regional Police Department, as well as with colleagues from the Kiev, Chernihiv and Khmelnytsky regions, began the study of the water area of the Sea of Azov.

“During the raid, the police found a variety of poaching tools. In particular, 788 bull traps, four shrimp hatchlings and seven bull ithers, as well as 11 mysine nets were recovered. Only within one day, fishing gear, the length of which reaches one and a half kilometers, was removed. In these nets were oxen, shrimp, flounder, pilengas and greenfinch. And these are several tens of thousands of fish that we have released into the natural environment. The estimated cost of poaching is almost three million hryvnias”, - said the head of the aviation and police department on the water of the National Police of Ukraine Sergey Naumenko.

According to him, the development of water areas will be carried out in the future.
