During May, border guards stopped 66 offenses related to the provision of illegal benefits
Eradication of corruption manifestations is a priority in the border department. An
indicator of the effectiveness of preventive anti-corruption measures carried out in the State Border Guard Service is the number of suspended offenses that are related to the provision of illegal benefits.
Thus, during May, border guards stopped 66 such offenses. 36 foreigners and 30 Ukrainians tried to offer funds in national and foreign currency equivalent to a total amount of more than 124,000 hryvnias.
The vast majority of travelers intended to enter the territory of Ukraine avoiding quarantine measures, namely, without installing the application “Diia”, without an insurance policy covering the costs of COVID-19 treatment, in the absence of a PCR test.
However, along with a significant number of positive actions of servicemen, within a month in 3 cases, border guards of Sumy, Lutsk and Kharkiv border detachments were notified by the relevant authorized bodies of suspicion of committing a corruption offense, responsibility for which is provided for by Articles 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
It should be noted that servicemen of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, who are suspected of committing an administrative corruption offense related to violation of the restrictions provided for by the Law of Ukraine “On Prevention of Corruption”, or a criminal offense, may be dismissed from the service.
