Adoption of the state social program to combat domestic violence will contribute to the consolidation of efforts in the fight against this phenomenon - Kateryna Pavlichenko
A meeting of the Commission on Coordination of the Cooperation of Executive Authorities to Ensure Equal Rights and Opportunities for Women and Men was held on “Preventing and Combating Domestic Violence” chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishina and with the participation of the First Lady Elena Zelenskaya, Prosecutor General Irina Venediktova.
The participants of the meeting discussed the state of prevention and counteraction of domestic violence in Ukraine, in particular, coordination activities, strategic plans and improvement of the system of assistance to victims, increasing accessibility to services.
During the speech, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Kateryna Pavlichenko noted:
“The adoption of the state social program and the plan for it, the approval of the action plan for the Presidential Decree and the results of the Strategic Session on combating gender-based violence, in particular domestic violence “Counteraction - Joint Action” will contribute to an even greater consolidation of efforts both at the ministerial level and at the level of service providers and local Administrations.”
Recall that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has already begun studying the possibilities of introducing electronic controls (which would track the offender's implementation of restrictive measures).
Also, in order to more effectively respond to domestic violence by the police, standard operating procedures, internal policies and practices are being developed.
“These are ambitious plans, for which legislative changes are needed, work on which is already underway,” said Ekaterina Pavlichenko.
