Law enforcers blocked the channel for the supply of counterfeit from the temporarily occupied territory
The attackers manufactured counterfeit cigarettes and alcohol on the territory of the temporarily occupied territories of the so-called “DPR/LPR” and distributed them in the territories controlled by Ukraine.
The attackers set up the supply to the controlled territory of counterfeit tobacco products under the guise of famous brands, as well as alcoholic beverages without excise tax stamps. The amount of damage caused to the state is currently being established.
Investigators of the General Prosecutor's Office of the National Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 204 (Illegal manufacture, storage, sale or transportation for the purpose of marketing excisable goods), part 3 of Art. 199 (Manufacture, storage, acquisition, transportation, shipment, importation into Ukraine for use in the sale of goods, sale or sale of counterfeit money, state securities, state lottery tickets, excise tax stamps or holographic protective elements) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. In criminal proceedings, the procedural guidance is carried out by the prosecutors of the Office of the Prosecutor General, the investigation is carried out with the prompt support of employees of the State Border Service of Ukraine and the SBU.
Currently, law enforcement officers are conducting searches on the territory of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. In particular, in office and warehouse premises, places of wholesale and retail trade, at the place of residence of those involved, as well as in trucks and cars.
As a result of these searches, more than 125 thousand packs of counterfeit cigarettes, more than a thousand bottles of illegally manufactured alcoholic beverages were seized. In addition, the statutory and registration documents of business entities involved in illegal activities, documents on the transportation and sale of said products, mobile phones and computer equipment were discovered.
The pre-trial investigation continues. The defendants face punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of eight to twelve years with confiscation of property.
