More than 680 police stations effectively provide police services in Ukraine
Police stations operate in territorial communities in 21 regions of the state. These security cells are opened within the framework of the “Community Police Officer” project, which helps to implement the priority principle of the National Police — “Community policing”.
Recall: in 2018, as part of the decentralization reform in Ukraine, the National Police introduced the project “Community Police Officer”. In May 2019, the first community police officers to receive appropriate training began service in territorial communities.
Currently, 372 communities are participating in the project. There are 632 community police officers on their territory, serving 6.4 million citizens in 4,337 settlements. In an area where there are no community police officers yet, communication with communities is maintained by district police officers.
Also, within the framework of the “Community Police Officer” project, police stations are being equipped on the territory of the communities. Over the past two years, 686 police stations have been opened, housing community police officers and district police officers.
The National Police of Ukraine pays special attention to ensuring law and order in newly created territorial communities. A police station is not only a requirement of time, but also an embodiment of the basic European principles of police-community interaction on the basis of partnership. This security cell functions so that in any remote settlement of the country all citizens can receive high-quality police service. This is especially true for people who live and work in rural areas. Now residents of the community do not need to go to district centers to receive police services, because they have become available on the ground.
Police stations allow officers assigned to the community to be in maximum proximity to people and not travel kilometers to arrive to call or receive citizens. Such stations are equipped according to modern standards: appropriate office equipment, storage places for documentation (safe), means of communication and communication.
It is worth noting that the functioning of such office premises contributes to the prompt response to calls, the prevention of offenses, the detection of crimes, and most importantly - the restoration of confidence of the population in the law enforcement system. After all, for police officers who care about the safety of the residents of the community around the clock, the highest value and criterion for assessing their work is the trust and respect of citizens.
Police and community cooperation has become one of the themes of the EUkraina information campaign, which comes from the initiative of the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration Olga Stefanishina, with the support of the European Union in Ukraine and the Association4U project.
