Police detained the driver who committed a fatal accident in Kharkiv
On the fact of the incident, investigators opened criminal proceedings. As a result of the accident, the 58-year-old driver of the Chevrolet car died. Three passengers of the Infiniti are currently in the intensive care unit of the hospital.
The car accident occurred on October 26, 2021 at about 20:40 in the area of the intersection of Gagarin and Odessa streets. A 16-year-old driver of “Infiniti” tried to cross the intersection at a red traffic light signal and collided with a Chevrolet car. As a result of the accident, the 58-year-old driver of the Chevrolet died on the spot, three passengers of the Infiniti - two 19-year-old men and a 16-year-old girl with serious injuries - were taken to hospital.
Drivers of both vehicles do not have signs of alcohol intoxication.
A complex of all necessary measures is carried out to establish the circumstances of a car accident, recordings from video surveillance cameras are being processed. Criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of vehicles by persons driving vehicles) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The driver of the “Infiniti” was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. According to the sanction of the article, he faces up to 8 years in prison with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a period of up to three years or without it. Investigative actions continue.
