This was announced during a press conference on Friday by the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv Ivan Vyhivsky.

“Several versions of the investigation have been put forward - this is a chronic disease that could have led to death, as well as poisoning by an unknown substance both independently and by an unknown person,” Ivan Vyhivsky said.

The head of the Kiev police added that the investigation does not exclude the poisoning of People's Deputy Anton Polyakov with an unknown substance, both independently and by an unknown person. In his blood, 1 ppm of alcohol was found.

Ivan Vyhivsky noted that the medical history of the deceased People's Deputy Anton Polyakov during the investigation of criminal proceedings will be checked for the presence of chronic diseases that could be life-threatening.

“We are now checking it, among other things - complaints of illness, treatment, etc. This is being established,” said the head of the Kiev police.

He said that the deceased drank alcohol in one of the entertainment establishments of Kiev with his friend, after which they got into the car of a friend and drove around Kiev. An acquaintance offered to go to the place of residence, however, due to a quarrel with a roommate, he did not want to go and for about an hour and a half they drove along the streets of Kiev.

“When the car was moving through Kiev, the driver violated the rules of the road, crossed a double continuous lane and was stopped by the police. Law enforcement officers checked the documents of the taxi driver and saw the deceased lying in the back seat. The taxi driver reported that the passenger was intoxicated and he became angry. After checking Polyakov's condition, the policemen saw that he needed medical assistance, immediately called an ambulance and tried to provide assistance on their own, but the victim died,” the head of the Kiev police added.

So far, no one has been arrested in this case.

According to preliminary medical testimony, death occurred as a result of acute coronary insufficiency, acute chronic coronary heart disease.
