Donetsk police in absentia declared suspicion to the “authorized officer” of the terrorist formation “MGB DPR”

In total, the police in absentia prosecuted ten militants who tortured and illegally detained citizens in the Izolyatsia prison.

The police departments for combating crimes related to trafficking in human beings, the Investigation Department (detective service) and under the procedural leadership of the Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office have exposed the man involved in the crimes in the Izolyatsia prison.

It was established that in 2017 the suspect joined the paramilitary formation “MGB DPR”, where he was appointed to the position of operational commissioner. The militant was given the task of identifying pro-Ukrainian citizens from among local residents, illegally detaining them with the use of psychological and physical violence.

Police documented the fact of torture of citizens during interrogations. Thus, torture was applied to one of the prisoners. The man was forcibly placed in a “prison”, where they beat various parts of the body, threatened to kill, and the victim's head was forcibly immersed in a container of water.

Currently, the defendant has been informed in absentia about the suspicion of participation in a terrorist organization, illegal paramilitary formations, violation of the laws and customs of war, cruel treatment of the civilian population, committed according to a previous conspiracy by a group of persons, committed under a previous conspiracy by a group of persons (ch. 1 art. 258-3, part 1 of article 260, part 2 of article 28, part 1 of article. 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
