The units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are ready to ensure public order during the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine — Bohdan Drapyaty
The festivities will begin on August 21 and will last until August 24 inclusive. At the same time, August 25 will also require a strengthened mode of operation of all services. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Bohdan Drapyaty said about this today, August 17.
“We expect the arrival of a large number of high-ranking guests. As part of the celebration, by order of the minister, an interdepartmental Situation Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs was created, which from August 21 begins its work and will cover the entire territory of Ukraine,” he said.
The head of the National Police Igor Klymenko noted that yesterday law enforcement officers began a special operational development of the capital and the Kyiv region.
“About 10 thousand policemen and soldiers of the National Guard of Ukraine, as well as 1.4 thousand employees of the State Emergency Service will work in the city of Kiev. Boryspil Airport also has a Situation Center, which organizes the exchange of information upon the arrival of official delegations,” he said.
Igor Klymenko stressed that during the preparations for the parade, the central streets of the capital will be blocked, as already reported by Kyiv residents and guests of the city.
Deputy Head of the National Police of Ukraine Oleksandr Fatsevich noted that the main paid forces as part of the consolidated detachments had already arrived in the capital.
“The task of law enforcement officers, first of all, is to strengthen the garrisons of Kyiv and Kyiv region to carry out high-quality preventive measures. The second is the provision and assistance of the Kiev police in connection with the arrival of Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Ukraine. Therefore, all forces will be directed to work and help the Kyiv head and the region,” Oleksandr Fatsevich noted.
The commander of the National Guard Nikolay Balan stressed that during the events in the city of Kiev it is planned to attract 3500 soldiers of the National Guard, of which more than 1,500 from other regions of the state.
“On August 16, mobile reserves were redeployed. In order to effectively respond to changes in the operational environment, several places of deployment of aviation equipment have been identified. Reserves of special purpose detachments were created in Odessa, Kiev, Dnipro and Kharkiv. The National Guard of Ukraine is ready to fulfill the tasks assigned to it,” said Mykola Balan.
The head of the State Border Guard Service Serhiy Deineko stressed that the State Fiscal Service takes additional measures to ensure a high level of border security and reduce threats of a military nature.
“The border is heavily guarded. One of the main tasks of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine during the preparation for the holidays is to carry out border control of official delegations from foreign countries upon arrival and departure, to ensure law order at checkpoints and to counteract the commission of offenses by members of radical organizations and anti-Ukrainian persons. Border control has been tightened at checkpoints and checkpoints of entry and exit, and the arrival of evacuation flights from Afghanistan is under special control. The readiness of reserves to fulfill suddenly arising tasks, constant monitoring and interaction with law enforcement agencies, local authorities and medical institutions are ensured,” the head of the border department noted.
The head of the State Emergency Service Nikolai Chechotkin said that the duty of the personnel of the SNS and equipment at the objects of festive events, as well as at the international airports “Boryspil” and “Kiev” has already been planned.
“In total, on the territory of Ukraine there will be about 8,600 soldiers and 2,800 units of equipment of the State Emergency Service on duty, including almost 700 rescuers and 110 units of equipment at the sites of festive events. The rotation of 9 aircraft was organized, of which one plane and two helicopters at the airport “Kiev”. There will be 28 pyrotechnic calculations at the ready,” he said.
Recall that on August 18, 20 and 22, rehearsals of the parade of troops will take place in the center of Kiev, during which from 15:30 to 24:00 they will introduce a temporary restriction on the movement of vehicles on the central streets of the city.
