The units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs intervened to ensure law order during mass events on May 9 - Serhiy Yarovyi

In total, 667 events are planned on the territory of the state, with the participation of more than 66.9 thousand people. This was announced by the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Sergey Yarovyi during the selection meeting of the operational headquarters.

Participants of the meeting discussed ensuring public safety during the celebration of the 76th anniversary of the victory over Nazism in World War II.

“Law enforcement provides more than 12.5 thousand law enforcement officers. The operational headquarters have already begun to perform tasks, all services, mobile reserves, aviation units are on constant duty. I ask you to treat the elderly with tolerance,” Serhiy Yarovyi noted.

The First Deputy Minister of the Interior also stressed that special attention will be paid to quarantine measures.

“On the ground, the police must carry out their work and inform citizens in advance about the restrictions that will take place. The main responsibility lies with the dialogue police,” he said.

Deputy head of the National Police Oleksandr Fatsevich noted that today a large number of car trips through the territory of the state are planned.

“At the moment, only in the city. About 150 cars are gathering in Kiev, the police are escorting them. Law enforcement officers are ready to ensure law order during this event,” Oleksandr Fatsevich said.

He also reported on some events related to the commemoration of the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation.

“In the Nikolaev area, a local resident fixed a red flag with communist symbols on the roof of the house and installed two photos with St. George's ribbon. In the Zhytomyr region, on the territory of PP “Avtosvit” on the flagpole, one of the employees placed a red flag with communist symbols. In Zaporizhzhia, near the monument to “Soldiers-Motorists”, an unknown person fixed a red flag with the inscription “Victory Regiment 1941-1945”. For all events, the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 436-1,” Oleksandr Fatsevich said.

Recall that in Ukraine there is a ban on the use of symbols of totalitarian regimes.
