In Sumy region, law enforcement officers reported the suspicion of the chief forester, due to whose official negligence illegally cut down trees for 3.2 million hryvnias
Yesterday, April 13, the investigative department of the Main Directorate of the National Police of the oblast together with the Directorate of the Security Service of Ukraine in Sumy region, under the procedural guidance of the Sumy Regional Prosecutor's Office, reported on suspicion of the main forestry agro-forestry enterprise, due to the official negligence of which the interests of the state were harmed in the amount of 3.2 million hryvnias.
During the investigation, it was established that the suspect in 2019 incorrectly indicated the coordinates according to which a logging ticket was issued and trees were felled on a land plot of 1.2 hectares.
According to the conclusion of the examination, due to a mistake made by the main forester, 333 trees were illegally cut down, which were not subject to felling, for a total amount of 3.2 million hryvnias.
According to this fact, criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine “Service negligence”. The offender faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to five years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years.
