By his illegal actions, the entrepreneur caused the state losses totaling more than 75 million hryvnias. Criminal proceedings against the defendant have been initiated under Part 4 of Art. 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. For his actions, he faces punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.

It was established that a 40-year-old man, having a special permit from the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine for the extraction of sand and sand-pebbles in the Yaskivsk rural community on an area of just over 57 hectares, deliberately violated his conditions and began to illegally extract and sell minerals outside permits on adjacent land plots. Through his illegal activities, which lasted from 2018, the entrepreneur caused the state losses totaling more than 75 million hryvnias. In addition, according to the conclusions of the forensic engineering and environmental examination, the offender led to significant negative changes in the terrain and soil cover. The threat of water erosion and soil displacement, which poses a danger to human life and health, has created a need for land to be withdrawn from agricultural circulation.

The offender was informed of the suspicion under Part 4 of Art. 240 (Violation of the rules of protection or use of subsoil) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years. The question of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is resolved.

Pre-trial investigation is carried out by employees of the Investigative Department of the GUNP in the Odessa region under the procedural guidance of the regional prosecutor's office.
