In Luhansk region, border guards detained a militant of illegal armed formations
Operational and search units of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine continue to expose citizens who were members of illegal armed groups and are hiding from justice.
Recently, the border guards of the Luhansk detachment detained a 32-year-old citizen of Ukraine for participation in hostilities as part of the Russian-occupation forces. The man in 2014 joined one of the units of the Russian-controlled illegal armed groups.
The duties of the detainee included inspection of vehicles and verification of documents from persons at a checkpoint near the city of Pervomaisk, Luhansk region. In addition, according to the instructions of Russian curators, the militant carried out reconnaissance and so-called “clearing” of the area. Subsequently, as explained by the attacker, he, fearing for his own life, left the checkpoint and fled to the territory controlled by the Ukrainian authorities.
Border guards sent to the National Police a notice on the detection of signs of a crime, responsibility for which is provided for in Part 2 of Art. 260 of the Criminal Code “Creation of paramilitary or armed formations not provided for by law” and handed over the detainee. At the moment, information about a criminal offense has been submitted to the ERDR, investigative actions are ongoing.
