Artillery shelling ended in Dnipropetrovsk region
The camp collection of artillery units of the Eastern Operational and Territorial Association ended with the execution of fire tasks. It lasted more than a month and was held at a general military training ground near Cherkasy in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Its characteristics make it possible to work out the potential of the artillery armament of the guards as fully as possible.
Artillery firing is the last fire chord of the camp gathering! Officers, sergeants and rank-and-file conscientiously prepared for them. Skills and abilities led to automatism. All calculations and calculations were carefully checked many times, because any mistake could be too expensive - yet the guards dealt with quite powerful weapons: howitzers and mortars of various calibers and modifications.
The climax of the camp meeting before the final part took two days. At 03:00 at night, the guards received the long-awaited alarm. In a moment, the camp turned into an “anthill”, the fighters rushed to equip themselves and get weapons. Afterwards, they attached howitzers and mortars to the tractors and headed for the concentration point. There they disguised themselves and carried out maintenance of the equipment, the stockpiling of artillery weapons, and prepared the ammunition for it. The next night, having completed all the necessary maneuvers, the artillerymen moved and occupied the command and observation post, arranged themselves in positions. Fire tasks were carried out by the guardsmen as part of the battery and the division.
“It was my first camp meeting at the training ground. I worked with a D-30 howitzer. Impressions are gorgeous! These sensations — the sounds of charging, shooting and breaking, a bright flash, the smell of gunpowder — something incredible, I think it is so difficult to forget. If somewhere it is worth going to military service, it is to our unit!” — says gun gunner Konstantin Chmelev. He was called up this year, but has already managed to win the trust and respect of his calculation.
“I am, in fact, a communicator. And on the shooting is far from the first time, but the impressions each time are certainly new! My task is simply to clearly and accurately convey information from the checkpoint to the senior battery officer who directs the combat firing. But this is a huge responsibility. You have no right to make a mistake! You are the only one with the battery! You are captivated by this exhilaration and excitement when the “gunslinger” lies as close as possible to the target, and then we impress her. I say “We” because it is a teamwork, its result depends on each link,” said the battery's radio telephonist Oleksandr Borodinov.
Accurate execution of a fire task, accurate shooting and strict observance of all possible security measures is not an easy task, agrees Lieutenant Yaroslav Klochkov. But this is the essence of the work of an artilleryman, regardless of position and title, which requires hard work, in fact to “bloody corns”, as well as strict self-discipline.
“I am a graduate of the National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny this year. For the first time with his unit, he went to combat shooting as a commander. I wanted to show a good result, and also try myself as a shooting leader. The first impressions are great! In addition, we had to manage trained personnel who underwent more than one week of training before firing!” — said Lieutenant Yaroslav Klochkov.
Recall that for a month, the guards underwent combat coordination of actions during the execution of tasks for fire damage to the enemy, practiced conducting defensive combat, officers improved the skills of unit management during combat work.
