In Dnipropetrovsk region, police officers exposed a criminal group engaged in illegal logging of the forest
During the search, they seized 100 cubes of wood of various types, cut in the territory of Pavlograd and Vasylkivsk districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
To detain the members of the group on May 21, a special operation took place with the participation of investigators of the Pavlograd district police department, employees of the SBU department in the city of Pavlograd under the procedural leadership of the district prosecutor's office. Force support was provided by a special purpose police regiment.
Within the framework of open criminal proceedings, 9 sanctioned searches took place simultaneously on the territory of Dnipropetrovsk region, namely in the city. Pavlogradi, s. Bulakhivka, m. Dnipro and s. Velykoalexandrivka Vasylkivskyi district. As a result, the 62-year-old organizer of the crime group and four of his accomplices were found. During the investigation, law enforcement officers seized about 100 cubes of different types of trees, chainsaws, fuel canisters, seven vehicles used to transport wood, documents and “black accounting”. Places of illegal deforestation were also established.
In the near future, the defendants will be notified of the suspicion of having committed the crime provided for in Part 4 of Art. 246 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal forfeiture or illegal transportation, storage, sale of forest). The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to seven years. The investigation is ongoing.
