We carry out the selection, preservation and digitization of historical documents, which today are in the funds of the state archive of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Today we are handing over to the museum electronic and paper copies of seven more declassified criminal cases involving specific people, specific convicts. I am convinced that our joint work will contribute to the emergence of fundamentally new research, the establishment of historical justice and the preservation of historical memory,” said Mary Akopian.

Recall that a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Interior and the National Museum of Holodomor-Genocide on the provision of access to previously classified archival materials. Earlier, as part of this cooperation, the museum received two digitized copies of declassified archival materials of criminal cases.

“The Holodomor was and is a crime that has no statute of limitations. It is very important to preserve the memory of the Ukrainian people about those times, to restore historical and social justice towards the victims of repression. The task of our generation is to preserve and develop our national memory, historical and cultural heritage of the Ukrainian nation, to contribute to the nationally patriotic education of children and youth,” the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs emphasized.

During the commission of the crime of genocide in 1932-1933 in the USSR and on the ethnic lands and places of compact residence of Ukrainians in the USSR, the communist totalitarian regime destroyed 10 million 500 thousand Ukrainians, including 4 million Ukrainian children.
