The Ministry of Internal Affairs will receive 1.4 million euros from the EU for the arrangement of the state border — Denis Monastyrsky
This was agreed today, December 3, by the Minister of the Interior Denis Monastyrsky and the Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine, Ambassador Mattie Maasikas.
“In view of today's challenges, the Ministry of Internal Affairs proposes to consider the possibility of reallocating part of the budget of the second phase of the EU4IBM joint project for the urgent arrangement of the Ukrainian-Belarusian border section and increasing the capabilities of the State Border Guard Service.” - said Denis Monastyrsky.
The Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Mattie Maasikas assured that Ukraine can already count on 1.4 million euros, and within a few months the European partners will agree to a significant increase in this amount.
The head of the law enforcement agency noted that due to the aggravation of the situation on the borders of the EU and the Republic of Belarus, as well as the frank demonstration of aggressive intentions on the part of the eastern and northern neighbors, Ukraine is interested in expanding cooperation with the EU in security issues. In this sense, the Ukrainian side is interested in participating in the meeting of EU interior ministers, which will be held on December 9-10 in Brussels.
Denis Monastyrsky assured Matta Maasikas that the Ministry of Internal Affairs continues to clearly and consistently implement the Integrated Border Management Strategy and ensure the implementation of the readmission agreement with the EU, strict adherence to the criteria of visa-free regime with the EU.
